Handwritten class notes by Jonas R. McClintock, University of Maryland Class of 1830. Class notes are from Dr. Nathaniel Potter’s Theory and Practice of medicine and include the following topics (from McClintock’s headings): infantum, cholera, intermittent, remittent, yellow fever, dysentery, hepatitis, splenitis, catarrh, pneumonia, cynanche tonsillaris, cynanche trachealis, cynanche maligna, scarlatina, cynanche paratidea, phrenitis, hydrocephalus internus, apoplexia, predisposition and cure, epilepsy, hemoptoe, rheumatismus, paralysis, gastritis, hemorrhoids, nephritis, asthma, whooping cough, measles, small pox, hydrophobin, dropsy, hemorrhage, dyspepsia, chorea sancti viti, and colic.
A second set of notes begins late in the volume they are from Dr. Elisha Debutts’ course on Chemistry.
Pages have been recolored in Photoshop for legibility. A note on an inserted piece of paper between page 144 (author’s page numbering) and the beginning of his notes on Elisha Debutts’ Chemistry lectures has been scanned alone, thus page 144 appears twice to give viewers a sense of how it looks in person.
